UN Lebanon (UNFIL) Miniature Medal

The UNFIL Mission was established in March 1978 to confirm the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, to restore international peace and security, and to assist the Government of Lebanon in ensuring the return of its effective authority in the area. The Mission continues to the present date.

Each United Nations medal is identical in design, with a unique ribbon to identify the specific mission. The UNFIL ribbon has three equal bands of colour, UN blue at each edge and green in the centre. The green is flanked by two equal sized white stripes, each bisected by a narrow red line, representing the Lebanese flag.

Qualifying time for the medal is 90 days of service in the Mission. Subsequent tours of the same regions would be denoted with a numeral attached to the ribbon. Military Observers from Fiji, Ghana, and Nepal assigned to UNIFIL as parent mission, and then detached for service with UNGOMAP, are also eligible, after 90 days of service, for the UNIFIL medal bearing a clasp indicating service with UNGOMAP.

All official medals are sent loose on the ribbon unless medal mounting is also purchased on the same order.
