UN Central African Republic/Chad (UNMINURCAT) Miniature Medal

The United Nations Mission in Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) was established on the 25 September 2007 in order to contribute to the protection of civilians; promote human rights and the rule of law; and promote regional peace. The Mission completed its mandate on 31 December 2010 at the request of the Chadian Government, which had pledged full responsibility for protecting civilians on its territory.

Each United Nations medal is identical in design, with a unique ribbon to identify the specific mission. The MINURCAT ribbon has a background of UN blue, on which sit 5 evenly spaced narrow stripes of dark blue, white, yellow, green and red.

The usual qualifying time for a UN medal is 90 days of service in the Mission. Subsequent tours of the same regions would be denoted with a numeral attached to the ribbon.

All official medals are sent loose on the ribbon unless medal mounting is also purchased on the same order.
