OBVERSE
The obverse of the medal is frosted and polished with a multi-faceted design, to reflect the sapphire cut gem stone with dates 1952-2017 encircling the design. The English Rose, Scottish Thistle, Irish Clover and Welsh Leek, represent the plants of the United Kingdom at the highest and most central point of the medal.
REVERSE
On the reverse, a regal crown sits proudly at the top of the medal with the wording ‘ELIZABETH II SAPPHIRE JUBILEE’ and ‘1952 65 2017’, encircling the bottom, perfect for naming with the service details of the recipient underneath the crown.
RIBBON
The medal ribbon has a central stripe in sapphire blue with light blue and silver white stripes highlighting the reflective facets of the gem and medal. The medal is supplied on a concealed pin, ready to wear.
The Commemorative Queen’s Sapphire Jubilee Medal which has been struck to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the HM the Queen’s reign; the first time this has been achieved by a British monarch. The design is a celebration of her reign, detailing the plants that represent the United Kingdom and medal ribbon reflecting the gleaming beauty of a blue sapphire. There is not an official issue of this medal and so we are delighted to offer an exclusive opportunity to apply for the medal for those who have served or are currently serving for Crown and Country.
Available to all those who have served Queen and Country from 6th February 1952, the date Elizabeth II ascended to the throne, and those who are currently serving members of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services personnel (paid, retained or voluntary), Prison Service, Police Community Support Officers, holders of the Victoria Cross and George Cross and members of the Royal Household. Next of kin and direct descendants may also apply. The miniature medal and all other items are available without restriction.
