Territorial Efficiency Decoration EIIR (1952-1969) Miniature Medal
The Territorial Efficiency Decoration, awarded in the reign of Elizabeth II from 1952-1969 Miniature Medal.
The inital qualification period of 20 years was reduced to 12 years in 1949, with 2nd award bars awarded for each additional 6 years of service.
This medal is an oval skeletal badge in silver and silver-gilt with a crowned monogram of the serving monarch. The ribbon is plain dark green with a central yellow stripe and a bar that is worn at the top of the ribbon with the words 'TERRITORIAL' on it. The medal is always awarded with the top bar. 2nd award bars are available for this medal, but these would be sild onto the ribbon and sit just above the medal suspension ring. The 2nd award bars are different to the top bar in design and would bear the monarchs crowned cipher in the centre.
In 1969 the the top bar was changed to T&AVR to represent the Territorial Army and the Army Volunteer Reserve. The ribbon was also updated to be blue, yellow and green. CLICK HERE if you require this miniature medal
This was then updated again in 1982 - 2000 with a return to the TERRITORIAL top bar but the blue, yellow and green ribbon was retained. CLICK HERE if you require this miniature medal
