Rhodesian 1980 Full Size Medal
The Rhodesian Medal was awarded to British and Rhodesian Forces and civilians who participated in the campaign for independance from 1979 - 1980, known as Operation Agila which saw the emergence of the independent Republic of Zimbabwe.
The obverse of this medal has the crowned profile of Queen Elizabeth II and the reverse shows a sable antelope with the date 1980 above the antelopes back and 'THE RHODESIA MEDAL' in capitals around the upper edge of the medal. The ribbon is a standard width of 32mm and is sky blue, with 3 narrow central stripes of red, white and dark blue.
To qualify for the medal personnel must have completed 14 days continuous service in Rhodesia between the 1st December 1979 and the 20th March 1980.
