VE & VJ DAY 80 YEARS

VE Day 80 – 8th May 2025 – A Historic Moment of Celebration

On  6th June 2024 we solemnly commemorated the D-Day landings. Now that 2025 unfolds, we now turn our focus to joyous celebration of the 80th Anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) which marked the end of the war in Europe on 8th May 1945.

On Thursday 8th May 2025 the nation will come together to honour this momentous occasion. Beacons and Lamps of Peace will be illuminated at 9:30 pm, the VE Day flag will be raised at 9:00 am, and communities across the country are encouraged to host celebratory gatherings. These may take place in streets, gardens, churches, village greens, town halls, pubs, and clubs, creating a spirit of unity and remembrance.

This year also sees the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Victory over Japan (VJ Day) on the 15^{th of} August, with a host of events and celebrations planned to honour this significant milestone.
