VE Day 80 – 8th May 2025 – An Historic Moment of Celebration
On 6th June 2024 we commemorated the D-Day landings. Now that 2025 is well underway, we turn our attention to the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) which marked the end of the war in Europe on 8th May 1945.
On Thursday 8th May 2025 the nation will light Beacons and Lamp Lights of Peace at 9.30pm, The raising of the VE Day flag at 9am and, where possible, holding parties of celebrations throughout the day in the streets, gardens at home, churches, villages, town halls, pubs & clubs.
2025 also marks Victory over Japan (VJ Day) on the 15th of August. There are many celebrations and events planned for this event too.
