WWII MID Oakleaf for a Ribbon Bar
Replacement World War 2 Full Size Ribbon Bar Bronze Oak Leaf Emblem for a Mention in Despatches (MID).
This bronze single Oak Leaf emblem is worn to signify a Mention in Despatches (MID) recieved during WWII. British commanders in a theatre of war or campaign were obliged to report their activities and achievements to the War Office in the form of despatches, which were published in The Gazette. Many men were deemed worthy of a mention, though further information explaining the reason why a particular individual was chosen is uncommon. Recipients of a WWII MID were authorised to wear an oak leaf on the ribbon of the War medal ribbon.
This full size replica bronze ribbon bar oakleaf emblem is supplied with 1 hole drilled into the top of the leaf. This WWII MID is usually attached to the ribbon by stitching through the hole at the top and over the stem at the bottom. This WWII Oakleaf is sent on it own without the ribbon bar for you to stitch yourself.
