This bronze single Oak Leaf emblem is worn to signify a Mention in Despatches (MID) recieved during WWII and various camapaigns up until 1994. British commanders in a theatre of war or campaign were obliged to report their activities and achievements to the War Office in the form of despatches, which were published in The Gazette. Many men were deemed worthy of a mention, though further information explaining the reason why a particular individual was chosen is uncommon. Recipients of a WWII MID were authorised to wear an oak leaf on the ribbon of the War medal ribbon.
This full size replica bronze oakleaf emblem is supplied with 2 prongs on the back to be pushed through the ribbon and then folded flat to secure the MID in place.
