Miniature WWII MID Oakleaf
Replacement World War 2 Miniature Bronze Oak Leaf Emblem for a Mention in Despatches (MID).
This bronze single Oak Leaf emblem is worn to signify a Mention in Despatches (MID) recieved during WWII. British commanders in a theatre of war or campaign were obliged to report their activities and achievements to the War Office in the form of despatches, which were published in The Gazette. Many men were deemed worthy of a mention, though further information explaining the reason why a particular individual was chosen is uncommon. Recipients of a WWII MID were authorised to wear an oak leaf on the ribbon of the War medal ribbon.
This miniature replica bronze oakleaf emblem is supplied with 2 pre-drilled holes so the miniature MID can be sewn into place directly onto the ribbon.
