Italy Star Full Size Medal
The Italy WWII Star was awarded for operational service in Italy and its surrounding areas at any time between 11th June 1943 and 8th May 1945.
The medal itself is a 6 pointed star with the Crowned Royal Cipher "GRI VI" in the centre, with an inscription of "THE ITALY STAR" around the cipher. The reverse of the medal is blank as with all World War II stars. The ribbon is a standard width of 32mm or 1.25" wide and the ribbon design in 5 equal stripes, red on both edges, white and green in the centre, representing the Italian National colours. No bars were awarded to be worn on the ribbon.
To qualify for the medal individuals must have completed 1 or more days service in Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, the Aegean area, the Dodecanese Islands, and Elba between the 11th June 1943 and 8th May 1945. Service in Sardinia, Corsica and Sicily can also count but only within the specific dates of certain campaigns in those regions. RAF and Royal Navy personnel on active operations within the Mediterranean area would also qualify.
Our museum quality replica full-size medals are made to the same exacting standards as the original and in line with MoD licensing. All official medals are sent loose on the ribbon unless medal mounting is also purchased on the same order.
WWII medals were not engraved when originally issued, so replacements therefore are not suitable for engraving.
