Description

OBVERSE

The obverse of the commemorative medal depicts a standing lion with a Chinese style ceremonial dragon bowing before it. In the background there are palm trees and the whole scene is placed before a pyramid. The exergue has the wording 'Eastern Service'.

REVERSE

The reverse of the medal shows the Eastern hemisphere of the globe surrounded by the wording 'For Eastern and Asiatic Service'. The medal is suspended from a ribbon depicting the colours associated with the East, namely Blue for the Rains, Green for the Jungle, Red for the Sun and Sand for the Desert.

RIBBON

The medal is suspended from a ribbon depicting the colours associated with the East, namely Blue for the Rains, Green for the Jungle, Red for the Sun and Sand for the Desert. The medal is supplied on a concealed single pin, ready to wear.

History

Worcestershire Medal services designed and struck this superb silver satin finish Eastern Service Commemorative Medal to be worn with pride not alongside gallantry decorations, but separately, to commemorate service in the Eastern and Asiatic campaigns which often went unrecognised by the government.

Eligibility

The full-size medal is available to those who served in the Eastern and Asiatic campaigns, their next of kin or direct descendants.

The medal is fitted with a uniquely woven ribbon, completed with a concealed individual brooch bar, ready to wear with pride, not alongside campaign medals, gallantry decorations or in uniform by serving members but separately and distinctively.
