SR-71 Blackbird Diecast Model

The SR-71 originated in the USA in 1959. Built with titanium as a strategic reconnaissance aircraft, it was put into service in 1966. Its speed of Mach 3 at 80,000 feet is comparable to a 21st-century aircraft. On 27 July 1976, the SR-71 set the fastest record of Mach 3.2. The 'Blackbird' was retired in the early 1990s with a glorious record of 'no loss'. In 1994, at least three 'Blackbirds' resumed service due to the shortfall in the USAF reconnaissance capability.
