OBVERSE
The obverse of the highly polished, nickel-plated, diamond shaped medal measuring 36 x 40mm has been framed with an intricate traditional laurel inset with the words ‘ELIZABETH’, ‘JUBILEE’ and the dates 1952 to 2012 encapsulating a stunning, multi-layered and textured ‘diamond’ which sparkles with every glance and focuses the eye upon the regal crown in the centre.
REVERSE
The reverse, also framed with a traditional laurel, proudly boasts the same four details featured in each corner of the obverse: a time-honoured English Rose, Scottish Thistle, Irish Shamrock and Welsh Leek. The centre of the reverse has a highly polished surface suitable for naming with the service details of the recipient.
RIBBON
The rich purple of the ribbon has been inspired by the velvet inside the Crown worn by Queen Elizabeth II at her Coronation. The vibrant ‘diamond’ stripe running down the centre of the ribbon represents the Diamond Jubilee and finally the red, white and blue of our Country’s flag colours act as a truly patriotic border. This medal is supplied on a concealed single pin, ready to wear.
The Commemorative Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal has been struck to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the reign of the Monarch of our great nation. This uniquely exclusive, patriotically inspired medal brings together every facet that brought Great Britain to an exceptional moment in our history.
Available to all those who have served Queen and Country from 6th February 1952, the date Elizabeth II ascended to the throne, or those who are currently serving members of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services personnel (paid, retained or voluntary), Prison Service, Police Community Support Officers, holders of the Victoria Cross and George Cross and members of the Royal Household. Next of kin and direct descendants may also apply. The miniature medal and all other items are available without restriction. The Government of the United Kingdom will be striking an official medal which will be issued to eligible serving personnel only. Many deserving individuals will not be eligible to the official issue including all those who are no longer serving. As this is a commemorative and not official issue, it is to be worn with pride not alongside gallantry decorations, but separately and distinctively.
The medal is fitted with a uniquely woven ribbon, completed with a concealed individual brooch bar, ready to wear with pride, not alongside campaign medals, gallantry decorations or in uniform by serving members but separately and distinctively.
