Afghanistan Civilian Service Full Size Medal
The Civilian Service Medal for Afghanistan was awarded to recognise the role of civilians and other personnel in the transition of Afghanistan to democracy. Instituted by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, eligible roles included civil servant staff, civilian contractors, police and military personnel who were not under the command of the UK Joint task force and did not qualify for the OSM Afghanistan.
The obverse of this medal has the profile of Queen Elizabeth II and the reverse has AFGHANISTAN in capitals around the top upper edge and the name of the country again around the bottom but if Afghan. In the centre is an image of Afghanistans mountians. The ribbon is a standard width of 32mm and is sand or buff coloured, with a central band of green, and 2 narrow stripes to either side of light grey/ silver.
To qualify for the medal personnel must have completed 30 days continous service or 45 days service accumulated over 1 year, for a minimum of 48 hours per visit. If service was curtailed by death or injury then the individual automatically qualifed for the medal.
Our museum quality replica full-size medals are made to the same exacting standards as the original and in line with MoD licensing. The full-size medal can be engraved on the edge with the recipient's service number, rank, name & initials and regiment.
All official medals are sent loose on 6 inches of their ribbon, unless medal mounting is also purchased on the same order.
