The Canadian Volunteer Service medal was instituted on the 22nd October 1943 and awarded for at least 18 months service between 3 September 1939 and 1 March 1947, recongnising service during World War II.
The obverse of the medal shows 7 men and women marching in step, wearing the uniforms of various services. The reverse shows the Canadian national arms and the ribbon has a central broad band of dark blue, flanked by a narrow stripe of red and a narrow stripe of green on each edge of the ribbon.
As a foreign award, if this medal were to be mounted alongside British medals it would be mounted at the end and to the same length as the UK medals.
