Cadet Forces CIII Medal Miniature Loose

The Cadet Forces Medal is awarded to recognise long and efficient service by Commissioned Officers and non commissioned adult instructors of the UK Cadet Forces: The Army Cadet Force, the Air Training Corps, the Sea Cadet Corps and Combined Cadet Force, and Commissioned Officers of the New Zealand Cadet Forces and is awarded for 12 years service.

2nd Award bars were awarded for 12 years of additional service, until 1971 when it was reduced to 8 years. In 1991 the qualification for the second award bar was further reduced to 6 years. The second award bars are stitched onto the ribbon, with a maximum of 3 being awarded. On achieving a 4th addition period of qualifying service, the 3 bars are removed and replaced by a gold rosette. The 2nd award bars bear the crown of the serving monarch and as such are available with either a Queens Crown or a Kings crown in the centre.

The obverse of the medal is the monarchs head, and the reverse is the lit torch.
