National Service Day

In June 2003, Tony Blair, Prime Minister at the time, announced the designation of the last Sunday in June as National Service Day. Award Productions sponsored and commissioned the National Service Memorial, proposed by the National Service Veterans Association. It's an important tribute to all National Servicemen and those who made the supreme sacrifice while in the service of their country between 1939 - 1960 when the National Service Act was in force. The National Service Memorial & Reunion is organised by The National Service Foundation, set up to represent all ex-National Service personnel and to carry the legacy of this historic period of national history forward to future generations. National Service Day is held annually at the National Memorial Arboretum, and is one of the key occasions in our calendar we look forward to each year. This year, as we commemorate the centenary of the end of World War I, the National Memorial Arboretum is proud to host the sixteenth annual National Service Memorial & Reunion with a special Service of Remembrance. It is a day in the British military calendar for ex-service men and women, from all branches of the Armed Forces, to come together, share memories and reflect on their experience of National Service. We would be delighted if you would join us and wear your National Service Medal with pride, at this special reunion and service. The day is open to all, so please join us at the Arboretum where you will receive a warm welcome and a wonderful occasion.
