1937 Kings Coronation Medal
The 1937 Coronation medal was awarded to mark the coronation of King George VI on the 12th May 1937. Approximately 90,000 medals were awarded at the discretion of local government authorities. The roll of individuals entitled to this is held in The National Archives.
The obverse of the medal has overlapping profiles of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in their robes of state, and the reverse has the crowned GRI monogram with the date of the coronation and names of the King and Queen around the edge. The ribbon has a broad blue centre, with 2 white stripes and 1 red stripe at either edge of the ribbon.
This is a superb replica full-size medal that is die-struck to the same exacting standards as the original with the word copy discreetly added on the reverse in line with MoD licensing. The full-size medal is supplied with 6 inches of loose ribbon. The 1937 Coronation medals were not engraved when awarded and medal edge engraving is not available with this medal.
All official medals are sent loose on the ribbon unless medal mounting is also purchased on the same order.
