The medal
Around 85,000 were issued at the discretion of local government, mostly to the Armed Forces, Police, Royal Household and government officials. Overlapping profiles of the King and Queen Mary, crowned and in robes of state, appear on the obverse, and a crowned GRI monogram with the accession and jubilee dates on the reverse. The red ribbon carries two dark blue stripes and a white stripe at each edge.
