Worcestershire Medal Service Ltd based in Bromsgrove designed and struck this miniature version of the superb silver satin finish Eastern Service Medal to commemorate service in the Eastern and Asiatic campaigns which often went unrecognised by the government.
The obverse depicts a standing lion with a Chinese style ceremonial dragon bowing before it. In the background there are palm trees and the whole scene is placed before a pyramid.
This medal is supplied on a single pin ready to wear.
The exergue has the wording 'Eastern Service'. The reverse of the medal shows the Eastern hemisphere of the globe surrounded by the wording 'For Eastern and Asiatic Service'. The medal is suspended from a ribbon depicting the colours associated with the East, namely Blue for the Rains, Green for the Jungle, Red for the Sun and Sand for the Desert. This is the miniature of this medal - the full-size medal is also available on this website.
